WTF??

Ok I take back what I said in my previous post about digital magazine subscription... DON'T SUBSCRIBE DIRECTLY AT THE HFM WEBSITE!!! It's better to subscribe in zinio.com, costs a little bit more but you certaintly won't get "high blood"...

So I was really amazed when I subscribed to Elle and got my first issue right away. Then I saw that the July issue was available and was actually wondering why I haven't received any delivery notification yet since they already charged my credit card... And after all, it's already digital right!!! So I went on to mail Elle's customer service and ask why this is so...

    Hi,
    Here are my account details:
    Name: Cheryl Lynne Abad
Address: *gave my postal address here*
    Email address: xxx.xxx@xxx.com
    DIGITAL SUBSCRIPTION

The July Issues for Elle Magazine and Metropolitan Home are already available when I view from Zinio. Why haven t I received a digital delivery notification yet?

And the reply was:

    Dear Subscriber,
ELLE appreciates your inquiry and welcomes the opportunity to serve your needs.
We regret to inform you that we are unable to trace a subscription placed in your name.
When contacting us in the future, please include your complete name, address and account number, along with a date of order in order for us to research.
Upon receiving this information, we will promptly respond with the information requested.

This still didn't irk me that much yet to think that I just replied to the Order Confirmation Email they sent me... I thought she might be answering a lot of inquiries and didn't bother to scroll further down the email. I did what she said and attached every email i could find regarding my order and I also reiterated the FACT that my subscription was a digital one since by the reply I got the impression she thinks it's a print subscription.

Bingo! She got it and replied:

    Dear Subscriber,
ELLE appreciates your inquiry and welcomes the opportunity to serve your needs.
As per our records, we would like to conform that your subscription is selected for digital version and all your issues will be delivered at the email add:xxx.xxx@xxx.com
The first issue of your order is SEP-07. Your subscription is paid through the OCT-09 issue. Thank you for subscribing to ELLE and we hope you enjoy every issue.

With this, I wondered why my subscription will only start on September since I'm already paid this month. And I ask again...

    Hi,
Thanks for your response. I just have one more question. Why is it starting only on Sept 2007 when I am already paid this June 2007?
    Thanks.

And this is what I got as a reply:

    Dear Subscriber,
ELLE appreciates your inquiry and welcomes the opportunity to serve your needs.
To ensure subscriber receive their subscription before the due date, address labels are prepared/labeled and issues are dispatch in advance and we start the new order with the lattes issue ready to go.
Thank you for subscribing to ELLE and we hope you enjoy every issue.

What the fuck?!?! Now, I'm pissed. I didn't ask her how they ensure each issue is delivered before the due date!!!And what address labels??? What dispatched in advance??? I have a freakin' digital subscription for Pete's sake!!! Breathe in, breathe out. Not in a rush to get those issues, just let it go... Besides, doing the math I got the June issue for free (since sept '07-oct '09 is still 26 issues).

***And another disclaimer comes to mind, not all issues can be shared for free. I think I can only share the first one I got since essentially I got it for free too. Just part of the advertising brouhaha.***

Elle should really think about the company they hired as their customer service reps coz it's really lousy. I'm never going to subscribe directly from them even though it's cheaper (now I know why it's cheaper!). I just hope they will fail to process my 3 other subscriptions (at this rate, chances are pretty high that they would!) because I just want to order those instead at zinio.com. I would highly recommend zinio.com now since I already got to try it also and their service is great!
